My God II My god is a god of sea and storm And cloud-racked skies and tidal waves A god of violence and wrath The One who kills and killing saves. My god is a god of the whirling dance The planets follow his lightning feet And stars and moons trip to his tunes Majestic, passionate and sweet. My god is a beautiful woman's smile, All tenderness and sweetest love And yet his masculinity Upholds the earth, the realms above, My god is a god of a hundred names And all the worlds his field of play, Whose presence dwells within each heart And shall be visible one day.

A Wealth of BlissĀ  November 25, 2006 Something, call it destiny or grace Unerringly leads me to my rightful place, I meet whom I am destined there to meet Along a dangerous or crowded street; Companioned by a vast protecting light I walk unharmed, untouched in darkest night. Enveloping arms surround me and I sense A beauty yet unseen; as I walk through dense And threatening forests that our lives' surround A wealth of bliss to fill my soul is found.

Upon an Undiscovered Plane I held you against the world till time dissolved And we stood upon an undiscovered plane Looking towards light when first the fires of dawn Appeared to us and we heard the haunting strain Of a melody unsung on earth before. We saw emerging as from a chrysalis The transformation of all we thought we knew; The commonplace became miraculous, The ugly bore a beauty vast and pure, Radiant bodies moved in sheer delight Across the landscape of the soul's desire. Almost too brilliant for our earthly sight We stood enraptured in a magic hour Unwilling to break the silence of the place, For words coul

March Towards the Truth The integument of our mortality Is a subtle sheath encompassing the form, A protecting envelope, a shield against The entities and forces that attack And seek to pierce the body or the mind. A bastion of Self-defence they guard and stay The lesser gods that would annihilate Or take delight in human suffering. The trials are real, affecting mind and mood. This world seems poised for great catastrophe Upon the brink of yet another fall Into the oblivion of ages past, Destruction visited upon all forms The life-force gone, the earth in stillness lay And yet survived; she is the chosen home Of destiny, the dwelli

Companion of the Upward Way With the turning of her head, The evocation of her sighs The signals of eternity Appeared as diamonds in her eyes. She walked so gently on the earth Spoke softly in her dulcet tones, In silence sang of beauty's light That falls on men yet no man owns, Of sweetness known when love is pure And music vibrant in the air Descending in receptive hearts Anointing spirits joined in prayer, Of joy that rises from the soul When truth within the self is found, The peace that reigns as mind is calmed And body from its chains unbound. I lived through many lives with her, Companion of the upward way, Chil

Surrendered at His Feet To be what we are not and must become On this journey of innumerable lives, The blazing torch, the intense and ardent fire, To recognize the One who lives in us, Regret not indiscretions of the past Or in the hands of formidable powers The evil deeds, unconscious acts and sins, But offer all transgressions in this hour Of the Supreme's forgiveness and our love To Aurobindo, of all creation, Lord And Master, guide of the unerring Way And bow, O soul, surrendered at His feet

I Have Heard the Songs I have heard the songs of the higher spheres And live to bring that subtle music down Alleviate the suffering and tears And make celestial symphonies our own. The present age is one of disbelief Or twisted values in a world awry, We see around us death and human grief And hear the fanatic sound of Terror's cry. We cannot change the world unless we change, Our 'isms' are diluted palliatives Our faiths, our creeds do little but estrange The love and unity that in us lives.

From the Shores of Time There is a work undone, the soul aware From long forgetful sleep shall rise, deny Insistent voices clamouring at its door And wake the body to its destiny. The residue of sorrow still remains To be lifted up as day uncovers night When the golden One arises in the east And all the world becomes a home of light. Then all my songs shall rise on silver wings A heavenly music accompany my days, Birds singing in the scented orange groves, A million voices joining me in praise, A gift of God award our perilous climb - To glimpse eternity from the shores of time.

His Transforming Kiss What need have I of miracle or charm Who once had placed my head upon her feet And looked into her eyes that could disarm The evil hordes and force to vain retreat The Foe that dogs us, Death who takes away From seeking souls the labour of the years, Sustaining breath in this momentous play, Who challenges through pain and human tears The soul of man to rise above the beast, The heart to widen and embrace with love The consecrated spirit of the East The energy untiring of the West That feet Divine may lead us through the hours And we may build anew this home of bliss. What untold Grace is ours, what un

The Architect Spring dawns in me a season without strife, Petals of understanding, blossoms fall Of harmony that lighten this labour of life; I wake to the sound of the skylark's call And the singing lessons of the rising day. The branches of my arms are filled with flowers, Time has lost its meaning; in the ray I live above the slowly passing hours. I have deeply loved and love, like a tree Grows within this secret heart of mine, Forever young, unbound, eternally Aware of his magnificent design, The architect who dreaming fills all space And sets the path of every galaxy. All beauty rests so easy on his face That we, thou
