The Voice of God Walk on O soul of man the distant stars Approaching roadways paved alone for thee, The sun a candle in thy vastness’ dreams, Walk on undaunted towards divinity. From ourselves we cannot run nor hide. Unsatisfied with mental wanderings We must break the bounds of mortal thought, And preoccupation with the noise of things, Ascending through the planes of consciousness Upend our lives, old certainties discard, Leap across the chasm of our pain That we may live to hear the voice of God.

Before the Presence Now in this autumn life I realise Beyond desire and the unconscious act The guidance of the accompanying friend. In this present birth and births held long before I move as if a stranger to my soul. Unchanged within I watch the seasons pass And feel the winter of my days approach. Like a child asleep within its mother's arms I must wake new-born to beauty and delight Cast off the false persona of the self And kneel before the Presen

Puppet King He spoke in an enamoured voice Seduced by the beauty of its sound, The perfect phrase, the most apt choice, Astonished all who gathered round To hear pronounced a world to be Born from a clear and fertile mind That bordered on infinity. Why then did our suspicions rise When he spoke as oracle Regarding us with steadfast eyes Presenting us the miracle Of all his visionary sight. Why then did we not weep and pray And cry out for the heart’s delight, “He is the guide upon our way Who shall deliver us from night. He brings the knowledge we have

The Home of Light and Peace 1/2/08 These terrorist atrocities but serve As vehicles to hasten falsehood's end And though inapt to see we somehow know A sea-change of humanity is near. The violent upheavals of the earth Are portents of disasters still to come If man continues his collision course, His desecration of the conscious soil, The brutal acts of a nature unrefined. Malefic day when evil's empire shakes The very core of our humanity Asuric forces loose through instruments Wishing to delay the Truth's descent And knowing they are doomed to fail, persist Until the day when they too are transformed And earth becomes

Divine Mother Silently I call and in the still And pain-filled night aware of your reply There surges from the deepest seat of will A gratitude that shall not fail nor die. No breaking sun through dense and storm-dark c loud Could match the light I saw within your eyes, Approaching you the holy, vain and proud Knelt down to kiss your feet then slowly rise Into a new-found vision and a vast Experience o

Once More Upon the Earth Now shall I take my sorrows and my joys And like a blanket of peace and tenderness Lightly upon this bed of earthly cares Cover them and hide from prying eyes The beauty and the sweetness I have known Late when the advancing years have crept Stealthily into this ageing house. Protect you r dreams my children from the world That would devour truth and good and right. The way before you opens like a rose With morning's first caress upon its buds. To live in light beyond the reason's scope, To labour for the world that is to be As we watch the dying generations fall, The spirit calls and our consent await

Returning Home Winter's welcome brings remembered chills In this isolated paradise in time The fragrant fields of golden daffodils Sole harbinger's of Spring's upward climb. But beauty rests so lightly in the trees Whose leafless limbs await the sudden flow Of life force upward coursing and the breeze Whose warming breath over the earth shall blow The soil to new awakening, release The grip of winter through the melting snow. I have returned to silence and it fills The soul with moments most sublime All longing and all sorrow in me stills And my spirit rests commensurate with peace.

Predestined Plan I will not age and at the final breath Joy will flow through artery and vein, There is no annihilation and no death, The soul survives and therefore, what is slain But a body used for spiritual gain. Beauty shall walk transparent on the earth, From inert matter new forms shall arise And all transform, a mighty second birth No force can abrogate, no heart despise The light divine from Her enchanting eyes. The change forerunners prophesied shall come, A higher life imbue the life of man Diversity survive as unity's sum, Truth reveal the great predestined plan Since the evolutionary thrust began.

To Lord Sri Aurobindo August 21, 1998 The alleluias of a million choirs Are as a tremulous note to the voice of prayer That rises up from consecration's fires Offering all to Thy omniscient care.

The Romance of You and Me I woke to see a frozen lake Beneath a frozen sky, And wondered if there was some mistake That the great so early die. I saw a living seer prepare to die And felt when breathing stilled the spirit leave Though to what sanctuary it did fly Remains a mystery and still I grieve For beauty lost to human sight, The oneness souls have shared Walking on the paths of light With all their spirit bared. I heard a laughter soft upon the ear A voice that spoke from some eternity "Go on boldly, what is there to fear This world is the romance of you and me."
