Rose of My
Soul
9/19/00
I have seen her
on the
summit steps of being
And sought her
in the
sweep from sea to sky
Glimpsed her
golden
through an inner seeing
And bowed before
her
luminous majesty.
I voiced my
disputation
with the night
Its stubborn
opposition
and transgress
Of truth that
built the
world for joy and light
And life that
lives
alone by Her largesse.

Prayer of Gratitude to Mother and Sri Aurobindo
March
23, 2000
Could I but see Thee clearly
In all thy formless glory
Mother of all heavens
And the seven sacred earths.
Thou hast donned the mantle
Of humanity
Upbearing by divine largesse
All life-forms in thy hands.
Radiant force of the Lord
Timeless is thy beauty
Timeless is thy grace
And infinite thy love.
In ageless moments visiting
Our world in human time
O form immaculate
Descending to uplift

The Emerging Face of Divinity
January 1, 2000
All beautiful is Thy Hand has wrought
Among the stars and galaxies,
In every form there may be caught
Thy miracled infinities.
The plants' perfection and élan
Counsels me to know the stone
But as the leap from ape to man
The key resides in Thee alone.
And in this age a full descent
Of the Lord of Life in human birth,
The promised hour of divine advent
Begins the Life Divine on earth.
Our vaunted knowledge flying goes
Upon the winds of uncertainty
For mind cannot kn

Into a Bright Reality I Came
Into a bright reality I came
Over the edge of dream to borderlands
Where flesh and spirit inherently the same
Obeyed the fluting-call of God's commands.
I felt the rising sap within the tree
And the soft caress of sunlight charging leaves
And knew our lives a holotype of Thee
In golden morns and star-encrusted eves.
Delight of my days and crowning majesty,
The surreal beauty of the slow descending sun
Throwing its final fire to the sky
When love and joy and life and light were one.

From the Carapace of Mind
Will we in future ages wake to Thee
Who now infuse the marrow of our frame
Or union find while breath and blood run free
And the secret of our soul's delight reclaim.
For man his infancy of mind outgrown
Confronts an age and self whose darkness hides
A gem of rarest cut, its brilliance shone
In worlds preceding Form where Light resides.
Upon the precipice's edge we peer
Into that vast Unknowable to find
That all is He and abrogating fear,
All the knots of ego-self unwind,
Suffer the endless miracle of Grace
Lord Within
In winter's stillness I sought for Thee
Across the frozen wastes of time
Thy citadel my destiny
Thy dwelling-place my upward climb.
I've journeyed to thee in summer's heat
When earth was green and redolent
Resting from her laborious feat,
Creation through divine intent.
All the springtime's of my years
I realize now I've searched for Thee
Through lifetime's at the feet of seers
I knew my mediocrity.
Now in the autumn of my days
I've found within Thy secret smile,
Companion through the aeon-ways
Who carried my soul all this while.

Difficulties on the Way
June
21, 2000
Now the day is done, we've turned once more
Towards night's caress and sin's hegemony
To fill the hungry vital's ego-store,
A fall from Grace and inner sanctity.
Shall all our eves then yield to darkness' dreams
Where sirens of sadness whisper tenderly
To enter the valley of tears and bathe in streams
Of pity forgetting the call of higher spheres?
Whether to sink in sorrow and remorse
Acknowledging defeat to nether gods
Or set once more the being's upward course
Aware

The Fashioning Grace
Brighter than burning acetylene
That blinds the sight if looked at long
A dazzling light fell on my days
And the rudiments of angel-song.
Far now those bright epiphanies
That burst upon my youthful eyes,
Yet from Thy trailing hem I seize
The thread of distant galaxies.
The darker side would flee from Thee
Retreating to a beleaguered past
Than face the transforming energy
And darkness that must be recast.
Yet slowly and with infinite care
You turn my consciousness towards light
Ignite the spark, imbed the flame
Unveil the soul, the inner sight.
Worlds
Strange-eyed moths, the flowers of night
Aloft on their vivid wings of dream
On boughs of a spectral world alight
Above the darkly flowing stream.
Awake we can but hardly know
Those vast untapped peripheries
Yet dive in sleep to realms below,
Beyond our mental boundaries.
Worlds on worlds above us rise
Inviting us to higher planes
To exceed the beauty of our skies
And build our lives where the truth-light reigns.
Though still we seem drawn to the deep abyss
Our souls remember the Beloved's kiss.

In The Attic of the Mind
Sorting through the attic of the mind
Inspecting chests of moulding memories
And thoughts once prized possessions now I find
Clog the room with cerebral vortices.
The pampered and presumptive ego-shell
Accumulated useless outer wear
That soon grew old and wanting quickly fell
Into disuse though still I could not bear
To clear out racks of thought in my control.
But now among the gathering dust of dreams
I open wide the window of my soul
And toss away a world of worthless schemes,
Ascending the stair of consciousness to greet
The object of my inner being's call
Who enters in on white and soundless
