Mother 1st version - Feb. 26, 1999 For simply to be is a blessing unparalleled, To breathe Her celestial air, to have seen such beauty Radiant in Her smile, to have been stirred By the melodious majesty of Her voice... To have knelt in utter stillness awaiting Her touch, Her hand upon the offered head, protecting And blessing through ages her slow evolving child, To have lived in Her Presence and knelt before Her Feet... One feels in the inmost chamber of the soul Her fire ablaze clearing aeonic barriers Instilling the Force, transmitting Her endless gifts, Stirring from slumber the dreaming psychic to wake: We of the vast millennium now tak

Vision April 2, 2008 The rose-hued flame of the heart's aspiration I saw Ablaze in the dark foreboding arms of night, A heavenly angel descend and softly draw Protecting arms around Her child of light. His face so filled with sweetness welcomed me To watch the sun of the truth-world slowly rise As the psychic being ready to break free Looked on all with calm and wondrous eyes.

To Shirley, Beloved Friend, Fellow Traveller Sister-Soul And when you spoke, your voice a plaintive cry Not wanting me to see the illness' toll, But I have glimpsed beyond the mortal eye The deep and stainless radiance of your soul. I have caught your falling tears, transmuting them In the sanctuary of the sacred heart, By the spirit's magic alchemy, to jewels More precious than earth's or heaven's fairest art. Now I'll guard through all the journeying years This sister soul, this fire ever bright, This gentle dispensation from above

America Oct. 1999 For I have seen without the artistic eye Or poet's sight the ravishing beauty of a land In summer bloom, in winter sleep, the songs Of earth both violent and calm, the hand Bestowed in blessing, wielded by the throngs In rage and hope for a new humanity.

Community of Souls Sept. 6, 1999 A meeting of souls on the avenues of time, A massed affinity calling to descend, the Grace And world-transforming apogee of Love, Embracing, accepting all with humility. Subtle harmonies sound on the wakened ear, The promise of new canticles to come, Recalling to the truth-awakened few Voice of a silver flute alone in night, Unearthly strings attuning the prayerful heart, Diapason of the soul's unending song

Homage to Sri Aurobindo May 1999 Perhaps my thought was a deeper seeing When the mind fell still and the inner being Seemed to hear his voice from the silent page Speak softly of the coming age. My heart attuned, my body heard From the Lord of Life the mantric Word Of earth transformed and by His kiss Rewed to beauty, man to bliss. A sweetness descending from realms above Borne earthward on the wings of love Envelopes our lives and immortal, brings The Godhead’s touch to mortal things. Slowly the golden light draws near

Father and Friend Father and friend I mourn you not. Through all the tribulations of your days Your love held close essential things and taught Eternal values found in humble ways. In the stormy discourse of the passing years, Compromise replaced love's amplitude, In a marriage fraught with bitterness and tears Uneasy truce a frail and thin veneer. Though all my heart was wedded to your fate And suffered more the more your distanced lives And angered words did finally alienate The unity your marriage vows had sought. Of the anger and its cause

Equation of My Life I have failed to do the homework of the soul. The mathematics of the Infinite Have yet to learn, the sole supporting number Of the All. And hardly can I add To this sum of life the vast beatitudes That multiply with each aspiring breath. Division disappears but still the ego Rules in the accounting book of days And must be stricken from final page And in the spirit's ledger summed as nought. To balance all these integers that pass As multiples of earth's variety And know the spirit can alone compute The hidden decimals of divinity. To add to the

Will There Be New Songs? 1999 All is breaking up to be rebuilt, Destroyed and simultaneously renewed Catastrophe upon catastrophe, Matter yielding to the spirit's touch That Nature may walk unburdened of man's fate. All coalesces round a golden light Powdering into a million infinitudes, Permeating the cellular nucleus, A still point working its atomic change, The celestial Singer descending earthward in song.

Paean to My Daughter Nov. 1999 Infinity's child blessed us by her birth, Daughter from a light I own not yet But see on the soul's horizon brightly gleaming. Daughter of constant wonder, depth and delight, Woman and mother, calm and gracious soul A benediction gives to each and all. We, the fortunate ones, have watched her grow In childhood's days at the dawn of Auroville, Inspired to a path of gentleness. A conscious soul through all her formative years, Bearer of a quiet joy she brings Her sweet and
