Ashram School Children June 15, 2004 This morning I received more blessings, through the children and from Arati. These children, ages 12-13 are so special. There is a light in them that is unmistakable. I began the music class with all of us holding hands in offering to the Divine. We chanted AUM. Usually I have to begin as the children wait for the lead. Today I received the inspiration (from the experience with the Meditation Choir) to ask the children to go deeply within and to chant AUM on any note they wished for when we offer our song to the Divine there are no wrong notes. We closed our eyes and suddenly I was filled with the beauty of what I heard, a har

Diary March 4, 2003 Departure from the Ashram and Auroville How can one quantify or qualify love? Unless we touch the soul in another being it is impossible. I have known the protective love of a mother, possessive love, the deep but mostly unvoiced love of a father, the familial love of brothers and a sister, the 'love' of friends, their warmth and goodwill, and their aspiration for my continued progress and my health. My life has been marked by love. In the love of Mary Helen I knew selflessness and devotion to

Mother's Grace - February 25, 1999.htm Mother's Grace Feb. 25, 1999 On Mother's Birthday, February 21st, five months have passed since Mary Helen's surgery. I look back on this period and understand how much the Grace has been with us, and in moments of the greatest difficulty and pain there has also been the joy of knowing that Mother and Sri Aurobindo have so blessed us. Indeed, they have always been with us only I have not at times been aware! When Mother first accepted me in 1961 after receiving my photo and seeing my handwriting sent by Jyotipriya, She said: "He may come as

Matrimandir Gardens Diary   ̶ circa 2004 It is only the Divine who can give us the vision of the Matrimandir Gardens. It will not come by the mind's effort or the vital's power and insistence or the body's effort for manifestation. When our hearts and souls are open to the Mother the realization of the Gardens will be accomplished. For me it is a time of prayer and aspiration, a call for Her to work through our hands, our minds and our hearts, to build in us a divine sense of beauty that will give us the first glimpse of this marvelous creation never seen on earth before.

Diary Surgery Day – Sept. 28, 1998-3 10:15 a.m. Three hours have passed since she left the room and I have remained here at the window, pen in hand, writing these thoughts and prayers as they come through, watching the joyous mockingbird on the high tops of trees sing his infinite variations of joy and I feel that if my songs of healing are accepted by the Lord, you will be healed and through the pain and tears draw ever nearer to Him. My love and my songs go forth to thee. Rest lovely soul on the peace of his bosom and in the lap of our Mother.

Parichand Diary 2004 My dear friend and brother, Chamanlal, gave me a book on Parichand's life, a gift from Sumantra. Parichand, of course, was my elder brother and we shared a closeness impossible to put in words. Visiting him frequently, we would talk about flowers, share new plants, seeds, etc., but most of all, Parichand would speak of Mother. His presence was filled with light as he would tell us stories about Mother and often, in his cheerful and simple way, resolve problems of day to day life on the many occasions we visited him. One could have no sadness or doubt or pain in

1962 - 9/22/Sat. eve. 9:30 Diary The past months have been very difficult for both of us. The business is grossing less and less per week and we are now barely able to pay the rent. In fact, we are three weeks behind. We have been swindled in every way imaginable, robbed and cheated by many who have given us their “word”, constantly plagued by bowery bums, tramps, and al sorts of human degradations presently inhabiting the block of 14th Street, New York City. From May 7 to Sept. 7 we worked seven day s a week (with only one or two days off) from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.. Anne and I have come to understand our relationship with each other, our love for Mother, the intensity of our aspirat

The Supramental Force June 19, 2000   In these days when the action of Sri Aurobindo’s force is felt in every corner of the earth though men in their blindness see only catastrophe and calamity, those who have touched the hem of Her garment or placed their head upon Her stainless Feet, know that “Only for good the secret will can work”, and they feel in this intense and heightened time, a momentous thrust of the evolutionary saltus, the Supramental Force at work in earth matter, kneading, moulding, pervading life from atomic particle to man, churning the fixed and sedentary complacencies, breaking aeonic crystallizations, pulverizing cemented hatreds and prejudices, transforming the pl

Nirodbaran November 2004 In July of this year Krishnaprem, who frequently came to visit us in Tehmi's room, met me in Golconde and said that he had seen Nirodbaran and Nirod said, "Give a long handshake to Narad". This remains with me as strong a blessing today in 2010 as it was six years ago. When I would visit him in his room, Nirod would jokingly say to the others who were gathered around him, 'I am Nirod and this is Narod!' I came to offer him my birthday wishes on his 101st birthday on the 18 of November. As everyone in the Ashram knows, his
