21st February 1993       21 FEBRUARY 1993   ... all turn with joy and longing to Mahalakshmi. For she throws the spell of the intoxication sweetness  of the Divine: to be close to her is a profound happiness and to feel her within the heart is to make  existence a ropture and a marvel... I have already spoken about the bad conditions of the world; the usual idea of the occultists about it is that the worse they are the more is probable the coming of an intervention or a new revelation from above. The ordinary mind cannot know-it has either to believe or disbelieve or wait and see.      As to whether the Divine seriously means something to happen, I believe it is intended. I know with absolute certitude that the Supramental is a truth and its advent is in the very nature of things inevitable. The question is as to the when and the how. That also is decided and predestined from somewhere above; but it is here being f

15 AUGUST 1955    A strong son of lightning came down to the earth with fire-feet of swiftness, splendid; Light was born in a womb and thunder's force filled a human frame. The calm speed of heaven, the sweet greatness, pure passion, winged power had descended; All the gods in a mortal body dwelt, bore a single name. A wide wave of movement stirred all the dim globe in each glad and dreaming fold; Life was cast into grandeur, ocean hands took the wheels of Time Man's soul was again a bright charioteer of days hired by gods impetuous bold, Hurled by One on

21 FEBRUARY 1959 In the mind which is a creator of differential contradictions there is supposed to be a perpetual incompatibility between the transcendent and the cosmic states of the Divine ― as also between the Personal and Impersonal, the One and the Many.  The supramental consciousness, on the other hand, does not raise these problems, for there the way of experience of the mental Ignorance is abolished and the basis of all things is an indefeasible unity ― whatever expression is there cannot diminish or contradict this unity  (which is essential and not numerical)  but lives in it and by it, never losing the hold on the supracosmic Reality which it expresses.  This di

15 AUGUST 1950   Our sadhana has reached a stage in which we are mostly dealing with the subconscient and even the inconscient.  As a consequence the physical determinism has taken a predominant position bringing an increase of difficulties on the way which have to be faced with an increase of courage and determination.   In any case, whatever happens and whatever you do, do not allow FEAR to invade you.  At the slightest touch of it, react and call for help.   You must learn not to identify with your body and treat it as a young child who needs to be convince

24 APRIL 1963 The soul goes to the Mother-Soul in all its desires and troubles, and the Divine Mother wishes that it should be so, so that she may pour out her heart of love. It turns to her too because of the self-existent nature of this love and because that points us to the home towards which we turn from our wanderings in the world and to the bosom in which we find our rest.   SRI AUROBINDO   Previous                                         Home                                      Next
