GLOSSARY       This glossary includes all Sanskrit words occurring in the selections from the Record published in the present issue, except for a few terms which are common in Sri Aurobindo's writings and do not have a special sense in the Record. (For these terms, see the Glossary to the Sri Aurobindo Birth Centenary Library.)       Words are defined here only in the senses in which they are used in the Record. Terms with a complex meaning in relation to Sri Aurobindo's personal sadhana are explained in some detail, quoting wherever necessary from unpublished portions of the Record. For a fuller discussion of some terms, reference is made to the Sapta Chatusthaya (designated SC).

Notes on the Texts       Record of Yoga: Script, C. 6 January 1927. NB R26: 34-35, 37-39. This writing is found in a letter pad used by Sri Aurobindo for the Record in early 1927. It must have been written no later than 6 January of that year,1 and possibly a few days earlier. The brief notes at the beginning are followed by an expanded presentation of the same points on the subsequent pages. The editors have classified the writing as "script" (see the previous issue, pp. 97-98), since the word "you" obviously refers to Sri Aurobindo. The print used for the present, much sharper reproduction was donated to the Archives in January 1990 by Sri Paul Radjanedassou, Sri Antoine Vallabh Mariadassou, and Sri Joseph Djegaya Mariadassou, sons of the late Mangaladassou and grandsons of the late Vallabadassou.
