Surgery Day- Sept. 28, 1998-6
11:04 a.m.
Some hours ago I placed
your wedding ring over the tip of my small finger, forcing it down to
barely cover the nail so that it would seat firmly, perhaps throb a little
so that my lips, in synchronicity to my pulse's rhythm might repeat the
japa of Mother's name. How
shall I measure the magnitude of my love for thee?
Sun and stars are but footsteps away when I compare the vastness
of my love for thee. In

Tehmi and Plants
and Animals
2005
On this day in 1961 I arrived in
Pondicherry for the first time and was welcomed taken in by Dayabhai at the old Parc a
Charbon guest house. On the morning of the 24th I had my first darshan of the
Mother.
I have spent
the last two hours with Tehmiben, reading Savitri and speaking of our lives in
the Ashram. She told me all about her childhood in Bhopal, her father who was a
fair tennis player and the chief surgeon of the area, in charge of a large
hospital for many years, and of her mother who never left her children alone and
would often tell them the same. She spoke of her years in school in Bombay and

Prayer
to the Lord
Jan 30, 2002
We pray, not to the One who is far from us, because He is
ever close and seated
behind the heart, but because we
aspire to keep present in the outer consciousness the unity and
identification
that is fully alive within. In
prayer we build the bridge between our secret self, ever awake, and the
dimly
conscious mind and life-force.
Opening slowly and late to the radiant Presence within, around, above,
beneath and within, we are given glimpses of a Sun of Truth too powerful
to be

A Conversation with Bharati Reddy and Sunanda
July 2004
Bharati told me about a lady who had made a garment for
Mother. It is on display at Srismriti, the collection of Mother's personal
items cared for by Sunanda. Bharati remembered Mother saying to keep this
very carefully as the person took Her name with each stitch.
I spoke also with Sunanda who told me that this lady always
wanted to give things to Mother and Sri Aurobindo and had sent a fine
dhoti to Sri Aurobindo but it was not nicely wrapped so she took two
ribbons and wove them with the gold threads from the bott

Diary 2004
Bharati is such a loving sister.
We first met during the last years Tehmi was with us.
She had been Tehmi's close friend for forty years.
We often play Scrabble together with Jagruti and I was
frequently invited to breakfast or lunch or dinner for delicious meals
prepared by her and Lavonia.
The other night when I was ill she came to my
room expressing deep concern for me and such sincere love for Mother. She would often tell me
about Mother and how She guided her fin all things from her youth.
I felt her love for

Attachment and Order
Diary 5/13/03
I dreamt last night.
In the early morning I awoke from a dream in which I was
sobbing uncontrollably asking my father, who was standing there, did he
not know how much I loved him?
And then Mother gave me the insight and the realization of
attachment that has shadowed me all these years, first with my father
and others, now with Mary Helen.
In that moment I solemnly vowed to Mother that I would break
all attachments except to the Divine, enabling me to move forward on the
path. "Do not cling to
the past" She said, and this I must
