THEMIS—THE POET
On Poetry
(Mother India - November 2006)
July 13,2004
Tehmi: (On Savitri) The very first line. What a tremendous
opening. It says so
much. You have to read it differently. It is simple. Nothing dramatic. You
imagine it.
It is very powerful. It gives the sense of transition from the night to
the dawn. I can
hear it.
The word "eyeless" (in the phras

Her Visions and Experiences
THOUGH Tehmi would say that she had very few experiences she spoke to me
many
times of two that were so powerful they were inscribed in her
consciousness as on a
perpetual tablet of Divine Grace. She actually was blessed with many other
visions,
some of which she recounted to me during her last two years and others
that were
recently found in one of her o

THEMIS—THE POET
On Poetry
Tehmi: [again on her own poetry] The poetry came so naturally to me and
then
I stopped it, which was a stupidity.
On Shakespeare:
No poet comes close to Shakespeare. [We quote lines together from Hamlet
and
Macbeth.]
On Henry V: I don't care for it. Too rhetorical and pompous.

THEMIS—THE POET
On Poetry
HERE are some more of Tehmi's comments on poets and poetry.
Tehmi: Sri Aurobindo wrote a short commentary on my poems.

Those who don't love poetry must be missing so much.

I think it is a real grace and a gift if one loves poetry.
Chanting OM ̶ December 14, 2002
I was amazed the other evening when I chanted OM and read
Savitri at Huta's home, Gratitude, amazed that there was still some
voice left after nearly forty years without practicing. Perhaps Mother
will give me more and more openings to the New Music but I am aware that
at the OM Choirs She is the leader and my offering must be egoless ̶ not
even a hint of 'personal' satisfaction. If all can be offered to the
Divine then, perhaps...

Trust and Consecration
March 13, 1999
What is needed now and always
has been is a complete trust in the Divine Grace, an exclusive turning
to the Mother with total faith that She will do the best thing for the
progress of Mary Helen's soul as mine and to progressively surrender
ourselves to Her and Sri Aurobindo.
If all the years of our life
together have led us to this point then we must use the opportunity for
a leap forward in consecration and sincerity.
Each moment presents an occasion
to establish a deeper calm, to accept to be nothing, a

Divine Mother,
My soul knows and needs no
convincing tat Thou art with Mary Helen at every moment.
Though the words of Arabinda Basu, Huta and Deshpande,
emphasizing Thy ever present help for Mary Helen, doing what is best
for her soul, are an added comfort for the outer being, within I am
certain of Thy Grace and Blessings.
Therefore how can I pray for Thee and Sri Aurobindo to be
with her? And yet I pray.
All I can do is offer myself in
gratitude, knowing that the Lord's Will shall be done. In that knowledge I rest in calm tr

Mary Helen,
Thou hast been such a
blessing to this soul. No
human can know what Mother and Sri Aurobindo have done for us and for the
body of the earth. Cherished
are all my memories of thee, steadfast companion on the way.
Your deep gentle love, your thoughts of others always before
yourself, your quiet depths, your calm revealing smile rising from the
inner recesses of your soul of light, your voice ever soft and gentle,
