My Spiritual Home
I walked along deserted beaches
Looking for my identity
The sand displayed its emptiness
And spoke of nothing but the sea.
I asked the waves where I should go
To wash away my loneliness
But all they did was rush on me
Promising no happiness
Until I found the hidden key
That lay by Pondicherry's shore.
There I would know my destiny
And wander through the world no more.
But I was young and young the day
Once found I knew I could not stay
Among the holy and the kind,
In the first scene I left the play
To follow the concepts of my mind.
Each year when flowers go to sleep
To work in Auroville I come

Higher Climb
I have
walked into a drear and lonely place
Held by the
remembrance of a face,
And one who
held my love within her hands
Who like a
jeweller fashioned wedding bands
Of antique
gold on silver overlaid,
Created
beauty that shall never fade
To signify a
love that could not die.
Now she is
gone and I, who am I,
That hungers
for a symbol or a sign.
I have drunk
deep the sacrificial wine
Yet cannot
free my soul to serve Her best
Bluebirds
Night with
its cloak of enchantment
Covered the
light of the world,
Summer is
here and the nestlings
Flew from
their nests and were hurled
Into a vast
isolation.
They softly
and plaintively called,
Huddled for
warmth and protection
As the
hungry hawk swooped down.
Now all that
remains are feathers,
The indelible presence of blue.

All
Life's Contraries
I never knew
mistrust and doubt
Could be the
intimates of love,
Snuffing
joy's candle out
And sorrow
like an injured dove
Cry so
softly in its pain,
But now I
see that love is blind,
At least
love on the human plane
Distorted by
desire-mind
And failing
to widen out, embrace
Anger and
disillusionment
Filling the
hurt and empty place
Solaced by
the soul's consent

God Within Our Hearts
Growing old is not an option,
Rest not till thy soul’s work is done
Cultivate intense devotion
And in each soul revere the One.
Seek the center where reigns a peace
Untroubled by the stirring mind,
Then shall the inner turmoil cease,
God within our hearts to find.

of the Relics
Like
scattered deer the dead leaves blow
Across the
body of the earth.
The agitated
wind, annoyed
Objecting to
this new world's birth
Brings
turbulence that knows no peace.
A whirling
visitation rife
With anger
as we here install
The relics
of the Lord of Life.
All future
possibilities
Are present
on this day of light,
No force can

I sit by her
in the evening's solitude
Broken only
by the cawing crows
No longer
can I speak of this or that
For nothing
is true the mental being knows.
I am lacking
in the soul experience
And cannot
say just where the psychic is
But reading
with her in this simple light
I know that
this and surely only this
Is
real. I feel the presence of a
seer
As the
sun-bright day glides slowly into night,
Beside me
voicing wisdom, heart to heart
One who has

Was poetry not the healing source
When cruel fate without remorse
Shore from us the silver tie,
Chose one to live and one to die?

Towards Sri Krishna^s Call.htm
Towards
Sri Krishna's Call
From the
voices of the earth I hear a cry,
A poignant
call for peace as war runs on,
Muffled by
the violence, devoid
Of harmony,
and beauty and delight.
And yet what
I have seen is also true,
Nobility and
truth define the man,
Sacrifice
and service pave his way,
Surrender to
a light not yet his own
Or hidden by
the outer sheath of flesh.
The day of
reckoning will be one of joy
When we
shall turn towards Sri Krishna's call,
Aspire as
the flower to the light,
As the sea
returns to union with the land
And earth
rejuvenates with marvel hues,
Magnificence and majesty divine.

Each
Moment An Eternity
We must not
make the same mistakes
As in the
white-heat days of youth,
Tortured longings,
great heart-breaks,
When nothing
came the soul to soothe.
Is it over
now, the passion-dance
As the need
for all possessions dies
With the
questionable word or glance,
Unbearable
romantic ties?
Calm is not
established yet
And the
descent of peace is slow,
But all the
