Tribute to Mary Helen – Dakshina
Dear Narad,
I never met Mary Helen in this life, but
your remembrance and tribute made me feel as if I had known her long and
well. May Mother guide her passage
on to the psychic realms and future realisations.
Thank you for sharing her story.
With gratitude for the work and sadhana of
both of you.

Narad,
I remember you and
Mary Helen from the time you were both at the Matrimandir Nursery and did such
a wonderful job. Recently we read
the news of Mary Helen's leaving her body and I wanted to send you all my love,
and to her too, that she may meet with the Mother and Sri Aurobindo whom she
loved so much.
You and her are not
alone on this journey.
With prayers,
Manuèle

Narad on Mary Helen
Feb. 16, 2002
In that moment when she
embraced me, folding her thin, frail arms around me, I knew she had transcended
human love and I was enveloped in the rapture of her soul's embrace. All the sweetness, all the tenderness
of this beautiful being I knew as Mary Helen flowed into me and no human emotion
will ever again approach that divine and selfless expression.
In later years the intensity
of our human love turned more and more towards its divine source and in doing
so deepened the sacred atmosphere around us. I don't know exactly when the commitment was truly made to try
and give myself completely to Mother and Sri Aurobindo but it must have been
early in

Dearest Richard,
Danny and I were so happy to hear from
Merrill that you are coming back to Houston to speak to the Plumeria Society
but terribly saddened to learn of Mary Helen's passing. We will always remember her as a
heavenly soul wit ethereal grace and beauty and our prayers are with you and
your family in this time of immeasurable sorrow.

Dear Richard,
The
March issue of Auroville Today came into my hand only this morning. We were very touched to read your
Tribute to Mary Helen. We knew she
was fighting the battle for the body's great future, but we are sad to learn
that she is no more. To have lived
a life as beautifully as she did and to lay down her body as one of Mother's
flaming warriors – that is achievement enough for one yogic life. We did not know her personally as well
as we have known you, and yet to have known someone like her even second hand
(through you) is a blessing we cherish deeply. May the dear departed rest in peace until the Mother cal
A Letter to Mary Helen on Hearing of Her Passing

Mary Helen, where are you?
I just opened that Ziploc bag which you had
given me for my travel in August 2000.
I held it in my hands and I thought of you
and I called for you. Just as I
have called for you so often during these last years. You are now more present than ever before, you are now, in
these last days after Richard (Narad) told us, you are now more present. We talk of you, we remember you, and we
feel you presence so often during these last days. This has changed since Richard told us. Or since when has it changed? It is not that we did not think of you
and of Richard during these last years.

Dear Narad,
I received news two days ago from Lilouben of Mary Helen's passing and just now read the fine
write up on her. For her the going
is good. She was a radiant,
valiant being who fought for the light and truth. She has left this earth of fear, anxiety, pain and weariness
to rest in the Mother's bosom, to repose in the psychic world of peace and
bliss. For you the going is a
great loss and will be hard to bear, but you are close to the Mother and she will
give you the strength to endure, understand, accept and grow. Surely she will; you are her child.
I told Huta over the phone She sends her

Dear Narad,
Arati and I were deeply touched to receive
the packet of dry-fruits that you sent though Chali.
We shall always remember Mary Helen and you
for the wonderful and inspiring example set by both of you – how true
faith and love for the Mother and Sri Aurobindo carries one through all ordeals
and pains!...
May we all be worthy of their Love.
