Lord Within
In winter's stillness I sought for Thee
Across the frozen wastes of time
Thy citadel my destiny
Thy dwelling-place my upward climb.
I've journeyed to thee in summer's heat
When earth was green and redolent
Resting from her laborious feat,
Creation through divine intent.
All the springtime's of my years
I realize now I've searched for Thee
Through lifetime's at the feet of seers
I knew my mediocrity.
Now in the autumn of my days
I've found within Thy secret smile,
Companion through the aeon-ways
Who carried my soul all this while.

Difficulties on the Way
June
21, 2000
Now the day is done, we've turned once more
Towards night's caress and sin's hegemony
To fill the hungry vital's ego-store,
A fall from Grace and inner sanctity.
Shall all our eves then yield to darkness' dreams
Where sirens of sadness whisper tenderly
To enter the valley of tears and bathe in streams
Of pity forgetting the call of higher spheres?
Whether to sink in sorrow and remorse
Acknowledging defeat to nether gods
Or set once more the being's upward course
Aware

The Fashioning Grace
Brighter than burning acetylene
That blinds the sight if looked at long
A dazzling light fell on my days
And the rudiments of angel-song.
Far now those bright epiphanies
That burst upon my youthful eyes,
Yet from Thy trailing hem I seize
The thread of distant galaxies.
The darker side would flee from Thee
Retreating to a beleaguered past
Than face the transforming energy
And darkness that must be recast.
Yet slowly and with infinite care
You turn my consciousness towards light
Ignite the spark, imbed the flame
Unveil the soul, the inner sight.
Worlds
Strange-eyed moths, the flowers of night
Aloft on their vivid wings of dream
On boughs of a spectral world alight
Above the darkly flowing stream.
Awake we can but hardly know
Those vast untapped peripheries
Yet dive in sleep to realms below,
Beyond our mental boundaries.
Worlds on worlds above us rise
Inviting us to higher planes
To exceed the beauty of our skies
And build our lives where the truth-light reigns.
Though still we seem drawn to the deep abyss
Our souls remember the Beloved's kiss.

In The Attic of the Mind
Sorting through the attic of the mind
Inspecting chests of moulding memories
And thoughts once prized possessions now I find
Clog the room with cerebral vortices.
The pampered and presumptive ego-shell
Accumulated useless outer wear
That soon grew old and wanting quickly fell
Into disuse though still I could not bear
To clear out racks of thought in my control.
But now among the gathering dust of dreams
I open wide the window of my soul
And toss away a world of worthless schemes,
Ascending the stair of consciousness to greet
The object of my inner being's call
Who enters in on white and soundless

From Night Transfigured
In the mysterious hour of rose and purple sky
Faint as a sigh when borne upon the breeze,
Dusk arrived, the calm to amplify
And settled, drifting down through silent trees.
All the green and vivid growth in light
Slowly sinking into eve's embrace
Vanished from the realm of mortal sight
And left a lovely fragrance in its trace.
Darkness took its hold in strange delight
And from its bed of soft creative ease
Like spangles on the velvet cloak of night
Issued forth its star-struck melodies.
Choruses of cries disrupting peace
Their raucous calls resound from limb to limb
A symphony atonal without cease
In His Presence
I simply stood arrested
By the beauty of his eyes
And a silence that attested
To a god from greater skies
Descended to uplift us
Out of mind's infirmity,
Around his head the nimbus
Of heaven's theocracy.
With the homage of my heart
I offered the secret place
Asking never to depart
From His majesty of Grace.
I prayed for a vast surrender
As earth's to its brilliant sun
And saw in his gaze the tender
Sweetness of the One.
Now all my days descry
The working of his will,
Our nature to sanctify
Our lives with God fulfil.

To Mother, the Unveiled Divinity
The Man of Sorrows befriended me
Companion of my lonely days
When darkness seemed eternity
And I a waif among God's strays.
He bade me join the poignant hush
Where every joy with grief is tinged
And painted with emotion's brush
Each earthly act desire-hinged.
He dwelt with me through countless years
And the slow awakening from birth,
Designed a chalice for my tears
In the sojourn of my lives on earth.
But now I've taken his gracious leave
To tread a path towards sanctity

Force of Light Descending
We dwell in a time of gross uncertainties
In an edifice built on the shifting sands of thought
Lost is the inner roadmap, misplaced the keys
Forgotten the battles heroic souls have fought.
Drifting through the daylight and the dark
Numbed by the mindless cycles of our days
Deaf to the sparrow's song, the meadow lark
We wander lost in a pleasure-seeking haze.
Immersed in a surface consciousness that dares
To disregard the aegis of the soul,
Minds benumbed by desire's dazzling snares
Bodies lurching forward without

Auroville, Beloved "Remembrance"
Those who departed the fields of Auroville
And scattered on the winds of a turning earth,
Who came at the call of a higher Force and Will
Attending the dream of a sacred city's birth
Are strangers now, their citizenship denied,
The internal passport with its Divine impress
Marked cancelled by the governing elite,
Expired and revoked, the past descried
As momentary phenomena, a stress
Of ephemeral value lost in forgotten years.
Those who knowing knelt before Her feet,
Souls who answered the Divine behest,
Bodies forged in a bl
