Surrendered at His Feet To be what we are not and must become On this journey of innumerable lives, The blazing torch, the intense and ardent fire, To recognize the One who lives in us, Regret not indiscretions of the past Or in the hands of formidable powers The evil deeds, unconscious acts and sins, But offer all transgressions in this hour Of the Supreme's forgiveness and our love To Aurobindo, of all creation, Lord And Master, guide of the unerring Way And bow, O soul, surrendered at His feet

I Have Heard the Songs I have heard the songs of the higher spheres And live to bring that subtle music down Alleviate the suffering and tears And make celestial symphonies our own. The present age is one of disbelief Or twisted values in a world awry, We see around us death and human grief And hear the fanatic sound of Terror's cry. We cannot change the world unless we change, Our 'isms' are diluted palliatives Our faiths, our creeds do little but estrange The love and unity that in us lives.
Resource name: /E-Library/Disciples/Narad/English/Poems by Narad/Poems_2006/From the Shores of Time.htm
From the Shores of Time There is a work undone, the soul aware From long forgetful sleep shall rise, deny Insistent voices clamouring at its door And wake the body to its destiny. The residue of sorrow still remains To be lifted up as day uncovers night When the golden One arises in the east And all the world becomes a home of light. Then all my songs shall rise on silver wings A heavenly music accompany my days, Birds singing in the scented orange groves, A million voices joining me in praise, A gift of God award our perilous climb - To glimpse eternity from the shores of time.

His Transforming Kiss What need have I of miracle or charm Who once had placed my head upon her feet And looked into her eyes that could disarm The evil hordes and force to vain retreat The Foe that dogs us, Death who takes away From seeking souls the labour of the years, Sustaining breath in this momentous play, Who challenges through pain and human tears The soul of man to rise above the beast, The heart to widen and embrace with love The consecrated spirit of the East The energy untiring of the West That feet Divine may lead us through the hours And we may build anew this home of bliss. What untold Grace is ours, what un

The Architect Spring dawns in me a season without strife, Petals of understanding, blossoms fall Of harmony that lighten this labour of life; I wake to the sound of the skylark's call And the singing lessons of the rising day. The branches of my arms are filled with flowers, Time has lost its meaning; in the ray I live above the slowly passing hours. I have deeply loved and love, like a tree Grows within this secret heart of mine, Forever young, unbound, eternally Aware of his magnificent design, The architect who dreaming fills all space And sets the path of every galaxy. All beauty rests so easy on his face That we, thou

The Rider Footsteps in the alleyways of fate, I hear them coming but I cannot see. Fate is a foreign land and desolate Where an unknown voice faintly calls to me Deepening the eternal mystery, And I barely conscious to the core Stand and watch the waves that rush and leap As the first earthman on a distant shore Stretched before him like one waking from sleep, Saw endless horizons of eternity. The music that I heard before my birth Is with me still and yet I cannot hear The melodies that urge the soul on earth Immersed in grief or solitude to bear The poison arrows of iniquity. The world in violence and anger moves Rushing wildly tow

The Psychic Within Soon I will return To the birthplace of my soul, Not my eternal soul Which is everywhere And never having been born Sleeps not nor dies, But the psychic being within, The silent witness self Growing through centuries With each new form and face.

A Newer Man She spoke as the world pursued its deafened way But one heart touched all open hearts were moved. Some came responding to the divine call But in our time science is the lord, Its answer to our need to prolong life, A drastic surgery augment the brain A chemist's potion keep the cells alive That blood may run unclotted through the veins Extend the years beyond our given time That we may watch the sitcoms at our ease Surf the channels for our favourite games, Half listen to the politicians lie, Drink our beer, eat pretzels and grow fat Or watch enthralled dramatic nightly news To satiate the vital appetite, Invite disaster in our livi

The Light Within The illusion is that we know ourselves so well. We work and sleep in comfortable clothes And build our world a heaven or a hell, Suffer the joys and failures life bestows React as one in anaphylactic shock To those who wound from envy or in spite The surface man in whom we place our stock And sometimes savour a perverse delight In retribution at our foes expense. We are pinhead personalities Content within our circumscribed defence We attend not to the inner voice that pleas For recognition who has been the guide Through births unnumbered beyond unmeasured stars, Ever the guardian, ever at our side Inspiring

When You and I Were One I have seen the rose in the morning Perfuming drops of dew Yet hold a thought in the evening, The memory of you. I have walked in the dust of the desert And over forgotten land, Yet hold to a thought in the gloaming That once I touched your hand. I have tasted the fruit of the autumn Redolent of sun Yet hold a thought of the springtime When you and I were one.
