Children of the Light I have weighed down your wings of angel-flight For the aura of joy no longer fills my days But comes a stranger in a distant hour, An unexpected guest who rarely stays Beyond the falling of the briefest flower Or the passing zephyr's kiss, as fleet As closely held remembrances of love Or the poignant recollection of your feet Moving wounded through the pain you strove To conquer and your energy regain. Eyes dimmed by de

My Father^s Laughter.htm My Father's Laughter My father's laughter touched us all None of our family was immune, When he was bright the children danced Under the waxing autumn moon. But work and fear of poverty Drove him to exceed his strength As he pushed us well beyond our scope In seasons of unendurable length. We toiled in heat and freezing cold And with the greening earth were one Shovel, hoe and pick to us Familiar as the wind and sun. The grading rakes, aluminium, Blackened our sore and callused hands But youth and freedom suffered most. The burning muscles heated strands Persisted throbbing through the night Momentarily reliev

A Face Known Through the Centuries I remain though she is gone A throbbing pain is in my head, Two souls who lived and loved as one No word can see me comforted For in my heart I am alone, Alone and now my years are few And sorrow like a heavy stone Weighs down the spirit that once flew And sought beyond the farthest seas A face known through the centuries.

Heaven^s Touch.htm Heaven's Touch In silent passageways and covert lanes He traced a journey through the inner worlds Arriving at the gateway of the soul. He stood before a door of living light And saw the secret entry through the heart And felt the fire burning in his breast. All the years of searching for the key Condensed upon that mighty beat in time When She with calm and majesty looked down Upon his humbled form and touched his head, A blessing for all ages yet to come.

An Hour Come The mother holds the lifeless child Her eyes are empty red and wild. She sees her husband blown apart In a tableau of the devil's art And love once thought invincible Reduced and severed by a will To conquer and the Light betray And lead the saintly soul astray. The world with evil seethes and spews It venom and would fain confuse, There is in man a pressing need And in the soil the truth-light's seed That shall in an unsuspecting hour Rise up and suddenly overpower The demons that seemed the lords

Undying Soul Though I have walked upon the Way awhile No saint am I, no haloed head aflame, I am the mendicant with toothless smile, The leper and the cripple bear my name. I am the representative of grief, The acolyte who cannot relinquish sin I am the wayside weed, the blackened leaf, Receiver of the sordid mid the din Of life that stammers and of life that fails. Immortal though I am my body lies Upon the heaving tides and rarely sails To

On the Evolutionary Way I witnessed a transcendent miracle The parting of the soul from earthly realms And the body it chose as its receptacle, A miracle that mind overwhelms, That one could open eyes so tightly closed, Impossibly one final time to behold And turn to the beloved, soul exposed As death embraced the body growing cold. I have no knowledge of a higher plane And never have I seen the soul in flight I only know that we are blessed again By those advancing towards that greater light. I believe that love shall save us all one day And there are none exempt that shall not be On the evolutionary way Carri

Love Dwelt in Me Awhile I lay broken like a broken toy Tossed on the garbage heap of humanity. Love dwelt in my awhile and I knew joy And now I cast her ashes to the sea. Years of solitude and grief-stained hours In the tormented heart no calm has grown, I walk among the trees, the offered flowers But find no peace, troubled and alone. On leaving she has risen very high And in some heavenly ether finds her rest But here on earth I seek the how and why So soon must leave the beautiful and blessed.

Fierceness of the Sea 9/4/07 I did not dread the fierceness of the sea Whose riptide dragged and inundated me And held me in the slough of giant waves That lure the fearless youthful to their graves. I lay upon my back, battered and torn And thought I might not see another morn But there came on me a sudden vast of peace. No longer did I fight for vain release But as the swelling surge upon me crashed I rose and sank as if a being lashed To the deck of a ghostly ship in a violent gale And felt the life-force in me start to fail. With my last breath I softly called to Her, "Mother, if now my end is near I offer, Commend this soul through

The Lord of Light All the hidden moorings of the past That held this vessel close to common shores Must be untied and shorn the knots of time That keep us anchored to our petty lives, And habits old that circle through our minds And memories relived, small joys and griefs As on a tape loop playing endlessly, Endlessly repeated to our ears Sad songs beloved our eyes so fill with tears, They close us to the music of the hour, Harmonies and melodies the soul In correspondence with the higher worlds Brings down to earth, the other-worldly sounds. Let us now sail beyond the bays of self Brave the winds of fate to find new lands Where peace is
