Live
Within the Light
July 16, 2011
In this unprecedented hour of change
Beleaguered as we are by poverty
Of soul and chastened by incompetence,
Unable to solve the enigma of the world,
A few committed to a divine ideal
Gather silently by the relics installed
In Centers of illumined consciousness,
Vibrating with His love and light and
force.
One is recharged and for a moment calmed
As the traffic of the world speeds by,
And I, well, I must concentrate the mind
On the object I have chosen to adore,
For He who dwells in me is ever my lord
Who counsels me to live within the Light,
Guides and showers all my soul with Grace,
And She to wh
Daytime
Dream
June 29, 2011
I fell to sleep and in my sleep I dreamt.
A daytime dream it was, of vital worlds.
I saw the images that stain the soul,
A danger-filled and dark, degrading place.
I woke myself to cast from me these forms,
Yet when I slept, again they came in force.
I turned away, abhorred by what I saw
No part of me these visions could abide,
But waking I was calm and peace returned.
The images unable to bear light
Dissolved as dust in morning's brilliant
glow
As all must go who would the Grace resist
As beauty manifests to wakened eyes
And joy is born on silver wings of song.
Who Looked Upon
July 13, 2011
In Her I found what few men
see
And fewer still can feel
The impress of Divinity
The bearer
of God's seal.
I knelt as one who searched through
years
The secret of it all,
The heights of love, the vales
of tears
From sudden rise to fall,
From those eternal spheres now
lost
Where once I knew such peace.
To reach Her count not any
cost
For all regained in Her again,
All beauty and all grace.
A light divine She cast on men
Who looked upon Her face.

Nobis Pacem

She smiles, a warm and beatific smile,
What lies beneath I have not skill to know
And yet I've seen the treachery and guile
And the length of the deceits to which men
go;
Not seeing deep I have borne scars untold
Time upon time and still I blindly trust
Until with love I shall all life enfold
And shake from me the centuries of dust.
Then will I when illusions veils are rent
With inward glance see the truth to be,
This world remade by a divine intent
And hear the voices from eternity
Sing their songs and bid us chant with
them
As we cry, Dona Nobis Pacem.
Peace
Shall Reign
August 9, 2011
Untroubled by the voices of the world,
Unveiled as yet the God who hides within,
Unknown and yet the comrade of our dreams,
Our prayers, our dreams and hopes as yet
unfilled
We would meet him in the sanctum and the
crowd
The friend whose thousand failures are our
own,
Whose struggles in this body also his,
Where can we go without him by our side
What can we do or possibly achieve
Without his sanction to the growing soul?
Yes, all is he but little we perceive,
Our eyes are fixed upon the darker side,
Of life that suffers seeking transient joys
Content to live awhile then disappear
Into religion's heaven or

We
stand upon a crossroad as we gaze
And
watch the world's traffic speeding by,
A
vast computer dominates our days
As
we recall lost beauty with a sigh
And
look upon a world gone awry.
Destruction

Tears
into the fabric of our lives
Powerless

Unable
to quell dissent anger thrives
And
now the voice of anarchy arrives
And
finds its dwelling in the heart of man.
But
all our 'isms' fail and we are left
To
change ourselves within is all we can,
Our
future taken from us we feel bereft
Of
our humanity and the gift
Of life ending in the hour of death.

Until the mind is
settled in its calm
And the sorrows of the
world no longer mine,
No peace can come to
compass my ascent.
For I would be other
than I am,
No longer tied to a
mechanic round
Of stale ideas and
petty wants and needs
But on strong pinions
freely soaring forth
Discovering within
these latter days
The truth that One
foretold long years ago.
Unless the consecrated
Self announce
Its mastery of body,
life and thought
And in the stillness
of its wide uplift
Bring down into this
worn and tired flesh
The light that will
illumine and transform.

I write these lines that do not come from
me,
The source half-known but why and how and
when
Is not revealed; in calm moments of the
soul
When the rough world is hid from view,
Shuttered out its darkness and deceit,
I sit alone and look upon the face
Revered through timeless centuries of love.
Kunitz says the poems as blessings come
Perhaps in answer to our inmost prayers,
And yet with me in moments of gratitude,
And in times past ,
moments of grief and pain
Descend. I write and strive not with the mind
To change the thoughts that lie beyond its
scope.
No visionary I and prosody
Of little interest to the
waking self.

Towards the
Truth-Light II
Oct. 8, 2011
Now the pansies and chrysanthemums
Paint the landscape of the changing year
And in my autumn change upon me comes.
How many springs have passed me as I walked
Unknowing with my hurried feet of clay.
I am tired now, the waning year returns
With griefs and memories I once had locked
Away in brighter seasons, happier days.
Each season has its beauty and the fall
Of coloured leaf against a burnished sky
Evokes a longing in the troubled heart.
Earth prepares for its hour of tranquil rest
And the white days that seem to cover sins.
I find no rest, he seeking soul moves on,
