Tribute to Mary Helen – Amrit and Matrimandir workers   9.2.2002 Dear Narad, All of us who work at Matrimandir send you our heartfelt condolences.  We know how bravely Mary Helen fought to continue The Mother's work in this life, and I will always personally remember her youthfulness and light.  Sometimes we come together and sometimes we part, but the goal remains eternally the same – The Mother's Light, Truth and Love. And the one comfort for all of us is that we will forever remain in Her Presence.                                                                                             With love and best

Tribute to Mary Helen – Constance and Iris   Narad –   We are so sorry to hear about Mary Helen.  We have been thinking of her over these past few yeas and hoping for the best.  I always remember cutting her waistlong thick hair, under a mango tree.  She complained that  her hair was so heavy and hot and could I please take off about ½ inch.  I trimmed off the oppressive ½ inch and she jumped up from the chair and said "Oh, that is so much better, I feel so much lighter." We remember her with love and affection.   Constance and Iris

Tribute to Mary Helen – Manuèle   Narad,   I remember you and Mary Helen from the time you were both at the Matrimandir Nursery and did such a wonderful job.  Recently we read the news of Mary Helen's leaving her body and I wanted to send you all my love, and to her too, that she may meet with the Mother and Sri Aurobindo whom she loved so much.   You and her are not alone on this journey.   With prayers,   Manuèle   Auroville

Narad on Mary Helen   Feb. 16, 2002   In that moment when she embraced me, folding her thin, frail arms around me, I knew she had transcended human love and I was enveloped in the rapture of her soul's embrace.  All the sweetness, all the tenderness of this beautiful being I knew as Mary Helen flowed into me and no human emotion will ever again approach that divine and selfless expression. In later years the intensity of our human love turned more and more towards its divine source and in doing so deepened the sacred atmosphere around us.  I don't know exactly when the commitment was truly made to try and give myself completely to Mother and Sri Aurobindo but it must have been early in

Tribute to Mary Helen – Mangesh Nadkarni   Dear Richard,                     The March issue of Auroville Today came into my hand only this morning.  We were very touched to read your Tribute to Mary Helen.  We knew she was fighting the battle for the body's great future, but we are sad to learn that she is no more.  To have lived a life as beautifully as she did and to lay down her body as one of Mother's flaming warriors – that is achievement enough for one yogic life.  We did not know her personally as well as we have known you, and yet to have known someone like her even second hand (through you) is a blessing we cherish deeply.  May the dear departed rest in peace until the Mother cal

A Letter to Mary Helen on Hearing of Her Passing  By  Roland Langen   Mary Helen, where are you? I just opened that Ziploc bag which you had given me for my travel in August 2000. I held it in my hands and I thought of you and I called for you.  Just as I have called for you so often during these last years.  You are now more present than ever before, you are now, in these last days after Richard (Narad) told us, you are now more present.  We talk of you, we remember you, and we feel you presence so often during these last days.  This has changed since Richard told us.  Or since when has it changed?  It is not that we did not think of you and of Richard during these last years.  W

Tribute to Mary Helen – Bob   9 February 2002   Dear Narad,   I received news two days ago from Lilouben of Mary Helen's passing and just now read the fine write up on her.  For her the going is good.  She was a radiant, valiant being who fought for the light and truth.  She has left this earth of fear, anxiety, pain and weariness to rest in the Mother's bosom, to repose in the psychic world of peace and bliss.  For you the going is a great loss and will be hard to bear, but you are close to the Mother and she will give you the strength to endure, understand, accept and grow.  Surely she will; you are her child. I told Huta over the phone  She sends her "heartfelt condolences a
